About the Convention
Est. 1922 · Ajmer, Rajasthan
Our Story
The Rajasthan Christian Convention was established in 1922 by a small group of Christian believers who had a vision for an annual gathering where Christians across Rajasthan could come together for worship, Bible teaching, and fellowship. What began as a modest gathering has, over the course of more than a century, grown into one of the most enduring Christian conventions in North India.
Through years of independence movements, changing governments, and shifting social landscapes, the convention has remained a constant, a fixed point of spiritual renewal for Christians in Rajasthan and beyond. Each year, families travel from cities and villages across the state and from neighboring regions to attend the five-day gathering.
The convention is non-denominational in spirit, welcoming Christians of all backgrounds who share in the common faith. Its longevity speaks to the depth of the community that has formed around it over generations.
Our Foundation
The Rajasthan Christian Convention is rooted in evangelical Protestant Christianity. The convention is affiliated with the Methodist Church in India and the Church of North India (CNI), and draws its teaching from the historic Christian faith: the authority of Scripture, the centrality of the cross, and the hope of resurrection.
The organizing committee is not made up of local leaders alone. It is elected from among leaders of the Methodist Church in India (MCI) and CNI churches, which keeps the convention a shared gathering of these traditions rather than a local one. It is open to all who confess faith in Jesus Christ, and speakers are invited from across India, representing a range of evangelical traditions united by their commitment to biblical preaching and the edification of the church.
The programme includes morning and evening Bible teaching sessions, worship, prayer, a dedicated youth programme, and special sessions for women. The convention has always maintained a spirit of prayer and reverence. It is first and foremost a time of seeking God together.
The Venue
The convention has long been held at Husband Memorial School in Ajmer, a historic institution that provides the campus, halls, and grounds for the five-day gathering. The school's spacious grounds accommodate the large tents and pavilions used for the main meetings, while classrooms and dormitories serve as accommodation for attendees who travel from afar.
Ajmer, situated in the heart of Rajasthan, is accessible by train and road from across the state and from Delhi, making it an ideal central location for the convention. The city itself carries deep spiritual significance for people of many faiths, and the convention has been a Christian witness in this city for over a century.
